Week 7_Ariana Danao_ASA 150E

In this week's reading, "The War after the War", I still find it so overwhelming how much the United States got away with things that were involved in wars. Learning more about the involvement of Cambodia and Viet Nam is so eye-opening because I did not realize these certain instances that happened in hxstory. There was so many things that happened behind closed doors that affected thousands, if not, millions of people and their lives. It has caused many individuals to have certain diasporic identities rooted around war. The United States and the influence and power that is instilled into this country is reflected a lot as they continued to create deals with other countries that was for their own benefit in terms of imperialistic powers. It shows the selfishness of the country and how they tried to use these countries to their own advantage, resulting in too many casualties.

In this picture (https://www.theatlantic.com/entertainment/archive/2017/01/dr-seuss-protest-icon/515031/), it depicts this western mentality and how the west paints and sets the tone for "World Hxstory" which was told through a white lens. The U.S. used and exploited these countries, their, people, and the resources they had for their own advantage.

My question for this week is this: Do the people in countries like Cambodia and Vietnam learn about the United States in a bad light? Do they learn about these different perspectives of hxstory?
